Women In Tech: Juliana Pavão from Boeing

5 min readApril 9, 2024By

Society advances, people's behavior changes over time, and technology follows this journey. In this context, the strong presence of diverse groups coexisting and co-creating is fundamental for growth, not only organizational but also individual. This March, we highlight even more the role of women in technology – Women in Tech. We interviewed 20 executives, CIOs, and technology and business leaders at the largest companies in the Americas. Soon this result will be available in e-book format. Meanwhile, we take the opportunity to present these great women, starting with Juliana Pavão, director at Boeing in Brazil.

Meet Juliana Pavão's Story

Juliana is director of government relations in LATAM and Caribbean for Boeing. In a career spanning over 20 years, she graduated from the University of Taubaté, holds a master's degree from FGV, and is certified by MIT. In 2023, she was a finalist in the LATAM edition of WOMEN IN TECH®- Global Movement.

When asked about the differential of female leadership, Pavão emphasizes that in general it is more humanized, with a holistic view and a vision of greater impact on society. This perspective transcends through the company's actions, stakeholders, and team leadership. But Juliana affirms a daily challenge of being understood in a predominantly male market.

About the double shift, Juliana says it's a constant challenge, but it's fundamental to accept that you won't be able to handle it alone, and that having a support network is indeed essential. Beyond that, it's accepting that one day you may not be able to handle everything, but that's okay.

To conclude, we asked for advice for the new generation: "Girls should support each other, seek inspiration, every day we have more references. We cannot give up, we have to go after it and be constant, so we achieve our goals. But of course, when you get there, don't forget those who are coming."

INSI's Women in Tech Initiative

INSI is proud of the advances being observed about Women in Tech and advocates for the importance of equity in the workplace through initiatives that bring representation and support to women. Since 2021, for example, we have ==The Next Gen==, a startup challenge exclusively for women entrepreneurs, founders, or managers. Through this program, we give prominence to female leaders and have already invested in a startup from this challenge – WorkHub, founded by Andréa Migliori.

In terms of compensation, while the IT sector today shows an average 20% difference in remuneration between genders, INSI has 100% salary equality in technology positions. Furthermore, we are proud to have 45% of leadership positions (at different levels) occupied by women.

In 2023 we had the honor of being awarded five times for our internal digital evolution case. In many of these awards, the protagonism belonged to the women who led this initiative, especially our Digital Director, Simone Lettieri.

We believe in the future generation of women technology professionals and support current leaders, as they have trajectories that serve as inspiration and are references of power and capability. We remain strong in this agenda for a market full of Women in Tech 💜!
