In today’s dynamic business landscape, where digital transformation is redefining processes and strategies, INSI continues to lead the way with DXi, the Digital Transformation Index for companies. From this initiative, together with Fundação Dom Cabral, INSI developed the National Study on Digital Evolution and Business Innovation, aimed at mapping companies’ digital maturity, with a focus on innovation and digitalization.

In a new phase, INSI presents even more robust data and strategic insights, bringing forward the second-year study focused on artificial intelligence: the Study on Innovation and Applied Artificial Intelligence. Its purpose is to understand the business challenges companies face with this new technology, further consolidating INSI as a reference in the field.

This article explores the key results and how they may impact the market. In addition, we will provide the link for full access to the complete study.

What is INSI DXi?

The INSI DXi (Digital Transformation Index) is a project developed by INSI. It is an index whose main purpose is to map companies’ digital maturity across a wide range of industries in the adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, providing a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities in this process.

The studies are part of the project, with a corporate and educational content approach, in partnership with Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC). The objective is to analyze companies’ maturity through strategic questions. In this second edition, focused on artificial intelligence, more than 200 business leaders were interviewed, representing companies that together account for more than R$700 billion in annual revenue.

Key highlights of INSI DXi – Year 2:

  • How AI is perceived: 75% of respondents understand AI as a technology that learns from experience, which demonstrates a basic level of understanding.

  • AI as a strategic pillar: 95% of respondents consider AI essential to the future of their business. However, only 14% have well-defined goals for AI projects, revealing the gap between intention and execution.

  • Focus on operational efficiency: Operational efficiency remains the main goal when implementing AI, with 80% of respondents prioritizing it. In addition, 57% seek to improve customer experience, while 54% focus on cost reduction.

  • Persistent challenges: Main barriers include high implementation costs (40%), lack of specialized knowledge (14%), and difficulty integrating with existing systems (14%).

  • The role of organizational culture: DXi highlights the importance of a people-centered approach. Companies that invest in developing skilled teams and a data-driven culture achieve greater success in their AI initiatives.

How does the study impact the market?

The National Study on Digital Evolution and AI in the Market offers a detailed overview of how artificial intelligence is shaping different industries. The technology goes beyond automation, influencing everything from operational efficiency to long-term strategies in areas such as technology, manufacturing, and financial services. The study’s insights also emphasize that companies that invest strategically in AI are able to overcome challenges and achieve stronger results. The report suggests that organizations integrating AI as a driver of transformation, rather than just a one-off tool, demonstrate greater adaptability in a dynamic and competitive market.

Companies can use the study’s insights to:

  • Identify priority investment areas such as automation and predictive analytics;
  • Develop strategies to address challenges like resistance to change and talent shortages;
  • Integrate AI not only for operational efficiency but also as a driver of innovation.

With these key insights available, INSI reaffirms its commitment to leading the conversation on innovation and AI in Brazil and worldwide.
