Learn about INSI's journey through the words of CEO Telmo Costa.
In an interview with Infomoney's "From Zero to the Top" podcast, Telmo Costa shared how the company started and its journey to this day, partnering with large companies in the digital transformation and evolution of large companies in Brazil and abroad.
See some highlights from the interview below:
Beginnings in computing
At a young age, Telmo fell in love with the world of computing after reading a magazine on the subject. Fascinated, he dropped out of his electrical engineering course in his third year, left his internship, and dove headfirst into programming. He began his career at Senac and later took the entrance exam for systems analysis.
Founding of INSI
At 24, Telmo founded INSI with two partners. "The name came as a challenge to continually reinvent ourselves," he says. The first clients came from a consulting firm where Telmo worked, which was affected by the Collor Plan in the early 1990s.
##Initial Growth
During the market reserve, only large companies had computers. INSI seized this opportunity, offering IT consulting and systems development to medium and large companies. Operating out of their garage with a borrowed computer, they won Pirelli as their first major client, paving the way for other important contracts.
##Global Expansion
Today, INSI operates in 350 cities around the world and has over 3,000 employees. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the company increased hiring to help companies operate remotely. This period fueled significant growth, with a 73% increase in 2021.
##Internal Digital Transformation
Over the past six years, INSI has undergone its own digital transformation, investing in nine startups through its venture capital arm. These platforms were integrated into the business, replicating the transformation internally for its clients. The company's annual revenue, according to reports, is close to R$1 billion. Its clients include Lojas Renner, Globo, and Itaú.
