Discover the innovations that help companies adopt a strategic HR vision

A study conducted by the American consulting firm Gartner mapped the main innovative technologies that are expected to change HR processes as we know them in the next decade.

In this article, we highlight some of the trends identified by Six Emerging Human Capital Management Technology Trends. Even more interesting, the study indicates which phase of the "Hype Cycle" each technology is in. The "Hype Cycle" is an analysis of the maturity stages of adoption of new technologies.

According to Gartner, when an innovation is introduced, there is often an initial period of enthusiasm, during which unrealistic expectations are created about its benefits. This is followed by a period of disillusionment and criticism. Finally, the next two stages represent the maturity of the technology based on experimentation, where its potential is revealed, and, finally, the "productivity plateau," where technologies are adopted in stable applications, according to their actual usefulness.

In the case of RHTech, it's clear that there's still a long way to go: all the trends presented are still in the initial enthusiasm phase.

Virtual assistants for basic HR tasks

According to the study, in 5 to 10 years we could see the widespread adoption of virtual assistants—based on artificial intelligence, voice or text, accessible from multiple devices—to assist employees in carrying out day-to-day HR procedures. This technology could free HR teams from many manual tasks and time-consuming tasks.

Internal talent marketplace

Contrary to the logic of using platforms that source talent outside the company, Gartner has identified a trend toward creating internal marketplaces. This market uses principles to match internal employees and, in some cases, a group of workers for short-term projects and temporary work opportunities, without requiring market recruitment.

Employee Productivity Analysis

With the shift to a home office format and also to a hybrid model, the demand for remote work monitoring tools that measure and improve productivity has increased. These tools must evolve to collect and analyze data that takes into account work patterns, geolocation, and time spent on tasks. These tools face ethical issues, which must be resolved during technology development over the next 5 to 10 years.

Using Technology to Ensure Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity

Companies increasingly recognize that employees are their most valuable asset and understand that well-being and development are key to ensuring a healthy and effective work environment.

A Gartner study indicates that diversity is linked to improved profitability—up to 21% for gender and 33% for ethnic diversity—in addition to innovation, volunteer effort, and retention.

Technology solutions to increase diversity and inclusion in organizations support data-driven decision-making, generating insights and dashboards on transparency, accountability, and efficiency across all people processes.

These technologies encompass HR activities such as recruitment, development, and talent succession.
