With new acquisitions, Argenta expands and implements a new ERP in partnership with Insi to unify processes.
Growth Through Consolidation
After several years of rapid growth, the SIM group of companies, which operates in the fuels and lubricants sector, repositioned itself in the market and is now called Argenta. At this pivotal point in its history, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Insi to implement SAP S/4HANA and ensure the scalability, security, and quality of information across every company joining this ecosystem.
Argenta's story began almost 40 years ago with the SIM chain of fuel stations in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, and since 2018 it has been expanding its ecosystem by founding new companies and acquiring others, including Querodiesel, Charrua, and Aiva, all in the fuel business. The company found in SAP S/4HANA a robust, reliable platform for that consolidation.
"With new people coming in and new processes, we saw the need to have everything in one place. As challenging as that would be, the time had come to make the change," says Bruno Bregoli Soares, Executive Director of Querodiesel.
Security, Compliance, and Long-Term Structure
For Cleidi Soberansky, Argenta's Director of Technology, Innovation, and Processes, the newly implemented SAP system already works as the group's "vault," providing security and tax compliance assurance. "Across our companies, we have areas that operate in similar ways, but our tax filings and compliance requirements differ. So SAP is what gives us that security and that assurance today," she says.
According to Antonio Praxedes, Argenta's Chief Financial Officer, beyond bringing security and organization to the group's information, SAP provides the structure the group needs to keep growing. "It is an ERP that gives us the ability to keep growing, with 10 to 15 years of systemic longevity, because it is a platform that is already closely connected to new technologies."
Finding the Right Partner
Once it had found the platform to support its growth, Argenta needed to choose the right implementation partner. "With the significant expansion of recent years and several initiatives still under development, we looked for a partner who understood where we were. We found that connection with Insi, which proved to be the ideal partner for this implementation," says Bregoli.
Roberto Certo, Business Director at Insi, credits part of the partnership's success to Insi's genuine interest in Argenta's needs and processes. "We paid very close attention to the processes, wanting to understand the business, talking a great deal with the team, both the executives and the operations side. By understanding the processes, we were able to deliver that confidence to the group."
Why SAP S/4HANA and RISE
Argenta's fast-moving nature also made SAP S/4HANA, run on SAP's RISE cloud platform, the best fit for the business as a whole. "That choice was very important for us, because I scale quickly and I change processes quickly, so I need the autonomy to monitor any and every integration, to plug in a new business quickly, to build something for retail," says Cleidi.
According to Roberto, SAP S/4HANA is designed to simplify how companies operate. "It brings simplicity, accelerates business processes, and serves as a pillar of a company's digital transformation."
Looking Ahead
"The SAP implementation is well worth celebrating, because the company never stopped growing. We ran the implementation alongside everything else that was happening in the group, but we had a highly motivated project team that truly believed in what we were delivering," says Felipe Portugal, Executive Director of SIM Distribuidora de Combustíveis.
Bruno Bregoli also sees a solid future for the group, "with each business able to grow in a far lighter, far more practical way, backed by a support structure that is aligned and connected to best practices."
